Children can become vulnerable to abuse and neglect when their parents are consumed by crisis and distress in their lives. Kids Kottage provides care for the children in a safe, warm, loving environment. Trained staff and volunteers tend to the physical and emotional needs of the children during their stay of up to 72 hours.

Mill Woods Family Resource Centre responds to the many challenges and stressors families face by offering free programs and services in a comfortable environment. Programs and services include: early childhood development, children & youth, parent education, family support, information and referrals to community services, and developmental screening for children birth to age five.
Misericordia Children’s Health Centre offers classes for parents of preschool and elementary school aged children with challenging behaviors. Subsidies are available. Please call for more information or to register.

This playgroup is an interactive program designed for Defense Team members, employees & families and their children birth to eight years. Playgroup provides parents, caregivers and children an opportunity to participate in child development activities in a supervised setting. The program stimulates the understanding of child development needs introduces parents to the multitude of resources available at the MFRC. Playgroups run Mondays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the MFRC. There is a drop-In fee of $1/per session for each child OR $10.00 for 15 sessions and is free for babies under 12 months.

This is a partnership program between Sturgeon Literacy and the Military Family Resource Centre. Families with children birth to 6 years can learn songs and rhymes in a fun, interactive setting, and enhance children’s pre-literacy skills. This program has been designed to assist families who are concerned about their child’s development or who are dealing with a lot of stressors. This free program runs from Sep 13 to Nov 15 (10 weeks), 9:30 am – 11 am at the MFRC. Contact Faith Wichuk to determine if you qualify for this program.

For over 20 years, the Sidekicks Mentoring Program has matched volunteers from the community to St. Albert’s children in need of friendship. These children are in need of mentors and positive role models with whom to spend quality time with. We continue to serve St. Albert’s families in need and strive to attain our goal of improving the self-esteem and confidence levels of these children and the quality of life for the whole family. We also strive to provide opportunities for all members involved to experience new and rewarding activities.

We are a non-profit family resource center serving St. Albert and the surrounding communities. Early Childhood Programs, parented and un-parented, child & youth programs, adult programs and support groups make up over 100 courses and workshops offered annually. We have Home Visitation and Head Start Programs. We also host special events throughout the year; Teddy Bears’ Picnic, Halloween party and the Roy Financial Mayor’s Walk for Charity.
The Tiny Light Foundation is a non profit organization that provides professional photography for children and families that have been faced with a life altering diagnoses. We provide families with the lasting memories in the form of Photography.
